Holly Williams, singer and songwriter from Nashville, USA, visited Goteborg, Sweden on her European Tour on Saturday evening. She’s starting to become a bit famous also outside of US and has released two albums: ”The Ones We Never Knew” (2004) and “Here With Me” (2009). She told the audience during the concert that they unfortunately brought too few CDs with them to Europe, so they all sold out earlier during the tour!
By her side on the tour and on stage occasionally is her husband Chris Coleman who plays acoustic guitar, harmonica and sings harmony vocals. They seem to make a harmonious couple and the love sparkles between them in the duet ”A love I think will last”.
Holly Williams grandfather was THE famous country legend Hank Williams, and it seems like her song writing skills are somehow inherited. The songs are simple and straightforward – the way it should be in this country rock genre. And I don’t miss the band on stage because the couple have so sweet and warm personalities, and it makes it more like a familiar jam than a concert. Besides, it’s easier to focus on her lyrics when it’s only her and her instrument.
Holly has always something to say about her songs, and she speaks very openly about what inspired her to write them. She tells us for instance about a car accident that made her sister more or less handicapped. She sings about that trauma in the song ”Without Jesus Here With Me”. She was in the car and she tells us that it was a miracle that they survived.
After one hour of songs from her two albums and a Bob Dylan cover, she and Chris are leaving the stage, but comes back for a last song: ”I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” by her grandfather Hank Williams. Very touching.

Shen Yun Performing Arts have been spreading traditional Chinese culture the last few years all over the world. It’s a high class show with classical Chinese dance and music, and it’s really amazingly wonderful to watch. I know because I have seen it.
For the first time Shen Yun had Hong Kong in their tour schedule. The tickets sold out within one week. And now, three days before the first show in Hongkong, Shen Yun Performing Arts has to cancel due to that Visas were denied for six key members of the group. It’s pretty obvious that the Chinese regime put pressure on Hong Kong to do this. It’s really a shame and I feel sorry for the Hong Kong people who now can’t see this great show.

I just got a new service on my website from Bandcamp. Now it’s very easy to buy digital downloads of my songs. You can also listen to all the songs and it’s not just short samples as before. Now it’s the complete songs. Just click the play symbol by the first track and then all the tracks will be played. If you click the lyrics link the lyrics will show and change automatically when a new song is played.
Another great thing is when you order the physical CD. Then you will also get an immediate download of the digital audiofiles in the format you prefer. It’s very convenient if you want to play the music in your phone or iPod etc..
So I hope this service will help to spread my music more.
It’s placed on my site anderserikssonmusic.net on the music page.
Take care!
Anders

Last year I sold my effect pedal, a Vox Tonelab. It was too big and I didn’t use so many of the effects. For now I will connect my old mixer to my Macbook and play via Garageband. It will be good enough for the practice.
Below is my guitar.
Actually this post was to see how it works posting and uploading an image from my iPhone.

I have always been fascinated by learning new things. Maybe because I like to always have a change in my life, even in small things. So I read books. Not novels and stuff like that. But books that inspires you to be more creative in different areas. Of course I read a lot about music marketing. The problem is often that I just read it through and then I don’t take action. Anyway I am trying to improve that.
Besides, now when we have internet and all other new technology, there are so many possiblities to learn new stuff. You can listen to podcasts, audiobooks, watch tutorial videos etc. And since time is limited I often do several things simultanously.
After have been taking singing lessons during the autumn I think next step is to improve my guitar playing. I have a very nice Fender Stratocaster that lately has only been a nice decoration in my appartment. But I assume it’s longing for me to play it. And I will.
I’ll try for the first time in my life make a schedule of all the things I want to do. I think that will help me get more diligent. So let’s get started… Bye for now;)
