“Hearts of Stone” is my favourite song right now. I probably put it in my cover repertoire;) It’s this kind of simple song that have so much behind the surface.
I have not listened that much on Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, but thanks to Spotify it’s fun and easy to get to know new and old favourites. This is a typical Springsteen composition. You can feel the dramatic melancholy in the music without even listen to the lyrics. And the way the word “the” is emphasized in several lines I recognize from other Springsteen tunes.
I assume that the guitar is not improvised, it’s really nice and well played.
I saw a few videos with Southside Johnny on Youtube and Bruce shared the stage with him on some of them. They were great live artists at that time (late seventies) and still are I believe.
